NEWS – 11th JANUARY 2020

Hi, just a quick update to let you know what’s going on. Tonight’s gig at the Toft House at Middlesbrough Theatre will be our last one for a while. We’re taking a little break to rest, recover, focus on family and, well, life in general. We’re hoping to reconvene later in the year and bring back the chaos.

In the meantime, our single and both our mini-albums are available at our bandcamp site (link below) for digital download and physical copy while still available.

Don’t forget that if you’ve bought a copy of the 7″ single from the band at gigs, etc., that it comes with a code for a free download of the digital versions of the two tracks, plus “Blubberhouses” and “For The Trees, Mate”. Just go to the site on the sticker, enter the code, and you’re away.

So, Happy New Year, All The Very Best Wishes from us, and see you soon.

NEW SINGLE – IT CAME FROM THE SEA/AMERICANISH

It Came From The Sea b/w Americanish
Available from werbeniuk.bandcamp.com

A certain orange, bananas, Mikado features heavily on our new single. Mixing its B-movie metaphors with glee, the pounding “It Came From The Sea” is backed with “Americanish”, and both songs encapsulate our horror at today’s political landscape and its somewhat suspect leaders.

The single is released on Saturday 16th November 2019 and launches with two gigs. Lunchtime on the 16th sees the five-piece group squeezed into Stockton-on-Tees comic shop “Something For The Geekend”, supported by Red Ropes. Then the following Friday evening, 22nd November, they’ll be at The Oxbridge Hotel with friends, fiends, family and an assorted rag-bag of surprises.

The single is a straight to 8 track, live, warts and all recording, done in a local youth club, of a couple of live favourites. It’s available as a 7” record, which comes in transparent green or black vinyl. Each record features a unique sleeve designed and hand crafted by the band members, and a download of high quality digital versions of the single tracks. All digital downloads include two bonus tracks from the same recording sessions. A download code is provided if you buy the single at gigs, or from the band directly.

“It Came From The Sea” will be available at forthcoming gigs for £3.50, from Something For The Geekend and Sound It Out Records (both in Stockton-on-Tees) from Saturday 16th November 2019. It’s available to pre-order NOW online at werbeniuk.bandcamp.com – vinyl is £3.50+P&P, download on its own is £2.50. We might even throw in a surprise gift.

See Werbeniuk live at:

  • Something For The Geekend, Stockton-on-Tees, Saturday 16th November (lunchtime) – single launch
  • Bobiks, Newcastle, Wednesday 20th November (evening) – supporting Some Bodies
  • The Oxbridge Hotel, Stockton-on-Tees, Friday 22nd November (evening) – single launch

STUDIO 64 REUNION

Doctor Brown’s Fri 20 Sept 2019

Brothers and Sisters, come and spend a Friday night in the Boro, with utterly current and visceral entertainment in the form of Werbeniuk, Shrug, Pellethead and Andy X. Don’t expect misty-eyed nostalgia, but literally yards from where it all began on Corporation Road in the mid 80s, this will be a celebration of what’s been and what will be. See you there. Goosed Records’ full announcement and link to the event is below.

“Goosed Records is proud to welcome Boro music royalty to Doctor Brown’s on 20th September, for the best reunion gig since Zeppelin played the O2 back in 2007.

After over 20 years providing invaluable recording space to bands from Boro, STUDIO 64 closed its doors following a takeover and relocation to Stockton. But on 20th September, Goosed Records proudly hosts a STUDIO 64 REUNION.

One of the stalwarts of Studio 64 was Goosed Records’ very own Nigel Crooks and through him we’ve made this happen. We see so many parallels with that studio and what we’re trying to build at Goosed, and not just because we’re smack opposite it. Our ethos of providing creative recording space for all Teesside musicians has many similarities with what Studio 64 did for bands of a previous generation and it’s something we felt we had to celebrate!!!

We’ve assembled an incredible lineup of bands that regularly frequented number 90 Corporation Road. They are:

Werbeniuk
Pellethead
SHRUG
Andy X

We always post promo stuff saying this one is not to be missed but this is seriously one that cannot be missed!!”

GIG! Toft House – Easter Sunday 21st April

Feisty, young, go-getters that we are, it’s taken us until April to play our first local gig of the year. We’ll be at The Toft House on Easter Sunday (21st April) with Phantom Radio and Visitant. To whet your appetite, here’s a piece from Teesside University promoting the gig, and featuring a touching (in ways you could only imagine) interview with Michael.

The Toft House is the club next door to Middlesbrough Theatre in Linthorpe, and tickets are £5 on the door. Doors 19:30.

Radar Sounds International

Werbeniuk are very happy to announce that we are teaming up with Radar Sounds International to spread the word far and wide. As RSI supremo Tim says: “Werbeniuk deserve a lot more recognition and exposure … delighting audiences with a sound that is … unique, brilliant, clever and best of all very tuneful.”

Check out the RSI Facebook page, where you can find out more, and check out the other bands on the roster.

An Apology

We are so very sorry to have to do this, but owing to ill-health, Werbeniuk are unable to perform at Volkspower’s Tent of Quirk this coming Friday. It’s not a decision taken lightly, and if we were physically able, we would have been there.

We’ll take a break over the summer, hopefully have some recordings to share with you and – all being well – return and do some gigs later in the Autumn and Winter.

Thank you for your understanding.

Michael, Gary, Andrew, Tim & Darren.

NEWS – Feb 2018

Been ages since we put any news on here, so here’s something …

Here’s a little snap of Gary, Tim and Darren limbering up during a recording session today. We’re beginning to get some of the newer tunes down, playing and singing live as much as possible, trying to capture some more character and energy than we’ve managed to on the recordings so far. We did a few takes of two songs today, and if those turn out OK, we’ll work on more in the same way. More news soon!Gary, Tim and Darren recording

Don’t forget our next gig is on March 16 at the Toft House, Middlesbrough Little Theatre Club, with Kev Howard & Tim Coyte, and Sam Slatcher. Hopefully more to come, too!

Cheers,

A
